Review the educational and experience requirements in the PMP Certification Handbook. PMI now requires documentation for your project management experience.
Verify that you can meet and document the project management experience requirements.

Join PMI. Members have a significant discount on the PMP Exam registration fee. You will need to purchase a copy of the PMBOK Third Edition from either the PMI bookstore or a third party.

Purchase PM ESSENTIALS. This can be done while your PMI application is being processed.

Develop a study schedule based on your free time. Many students set a goal of one chapter a week.

Follow and complete your study program.
After you finish each Knowledge Chapter, fill out the Chapter Review. This is a WORD document with questions based on the PMBOK Third Edition, PM ESSENTIALS, and the Supplementary Material. After completing the Chapter Review, send the document to customerservice@pmtrainingmaster.com.
An instructor will grade the Chapter Review. If the instructor finds an error, he may explain the correct answer or ask you to resubmit that question or that series of questions.
While you can immediately continue to the next chapter after completing the Chapter Review, you must complete each Chapter Review to the satisfaction of the Instructor before receiving the logon and password for the simulated PMP Exam (step 8).

  • answered all 520 quiz questions correctly
  • would like a logon to the Internet based 200 question simulated PMP Exam

Go through the PM ESSENTIALS PMP Exam Simulation questions until you pass and understand the material. You can take this exam as many times as you need. No time limit! The automatic scoring system provides explanations on incorrect responses, so you continue your learning as you practice for your PMP exam. Customer Service monitors the results of every exam session and will send you the completion certificate within one day after achieving a passing score.

Go through the free (or commercial) PMP Exam Simulation questions (list supplied after you pass our simulated PMP exam) until you feel comfortable with the testing process and exam format. Every set of questions is different, and the more questions you master, the better prepared you will be.

Complete and submit the PMP application (follow instructions in the PMP handbook).

Continue reviewing the PMP exam simulation questions to keep the material fresh in your mind. Go back and review PM ESSENTIALS by re-taking the quizzes. Study your completed chapter reviews.

Review the requirements in the CAPM Certification Handbook. To sit for the CAPM exam, PMI requires a High school certificate (or global equivalent) and 1,500 hours of project management experience OR 23 hours of project management education. The CAMP exam is based on the PMBOK Third Edition, so even if you have the 1,500 hours, you still must know the 5 process groups and 9 knowledge areas. PM ESSENTIALS will help you learn that information!
